The Polhem Prize:

In 1993 Claes Ericsson of Reflex Instrument was awarded the Polhem Prize for his development of the MAXIBOR borehole survey instrument.

In his' own words "In 1993 I was awarded the prestigious Polhem prize in recognition of my efforts in developing the Maxibor." (GeoDrilling International January/February 2007, page 18).

And from the Polhem award release:
The 1993 Award Committee motivates its choice of the Reflex MAXIBOR and its designer Claes Ericsson in these words: ...... "Claes Ericsson's creative engineering capacity combined with drive, his willingness to make great sacrifices, and an unswerving belief in his idea resulted in an ingenious solution to the mining and civil engineering industries measuring problem. Claes Ericsson's development of the MAXIBOR qualifies him well for the 1993 Polhem Prize"

So, at last, Claes Ericsson was recognised for his great efforts in the design and development of the Maxibor survey instrument. His contribution can be seen on the Maxibor page.
